Our YouTube application

Brown Noise Uploader

Brown Noise Uploader is the private automation tool that runs the Brown Noise channels. It publishes and manages the network’s own scheduled brown-noise livestreams on YouTube. It is operated solely by the owner of these channels and is not offered to the public as a sign-up service.

What it does

  • Creates and manages the scheduled daily livestreams for the three Brown Noise channels.
  • Sets each stream’s title, description, thumbnail, and playlist, and posts the channel’s own pinned comments.
  • Reads the channels’ own viewing statistics to guide scheduling and content decisions.

It acts only on the Brown Noise channels, which the operator owns and controls. It does not read, modify, or access any other person’s YouTube account or data.

Why it needs each YouTube permission

The application requests the minimum set of scopes required to operate the owner’s own livestream channels — nothing broader.

…/auth/youtube — Manage the account’s YouTube

Required to create the scheduled live broadcasts, bind them to the stream, start and end them on the fixed daily schedule, and set video titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and playlists on the owner’s own channels.

…/auth/youtube.force-ssl — Manage YouTube over a secure connection

Required by YouTube for certain write actions — specifically posting the channel’s own pinned comments — and to ensure all API calls are made over a secure (HTTPS) connection.

…/auth/yt-analytics.readonly — View YouTube Analytics (read-only)

Read-only access to the channels’ own analytics (for example, views over time), used only to inform scheduling and content decisions. It grants no ability to change anything.

How authorization works

  • The owner signs in with Google and grants the scopes above, once per channel.
  • Google returns credentials that are stored only on the owner’s own production machine. They are never transmitted to any third party and never published anywhere.
  • The tool refreshes these credentials automatically to keep the scheduled streams running; the owner can revoke access at any time from their Google Account.

Least privilege & data handling

  • Only the three scopes above are requested — the smallest set that lets the tool run its own livestreams.
  • The tool operates only on the owner’s own channels; it accesses no other users’ data.
  • Analytics access is strictly read-only.
  • No end-user data is collected: the application has no public users other than the operator.
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for full details on data handling and use.
