Frequently asked questions
The short answers about the channels, the schedule, and what’s coming.
What is brown noise?
Brown noise is a steady sound that emphasizes lower frequencies, giving a deeper, softer wash than white noise. Many people find it easier to ignore, which makes it useful for masking distractions while sleeping, relaxing, or focusing.
How much does it cost?
All three channels are free to listen on YouTube. A premium membership is planned for extra features, but the public channels will stay free. See Membership for the preview.
What’s the schedule?
One channel is always live, on a fixed daily schedule (America/Chicago): Focus Brown Lab 07:00–15:00, Quiet Brown Studio 15:00–23:00, and Deep Night Brown 23:00–07:00. The homepage highlights whichever is live right now.
What does “8-hour listening” mean?
Each session runs a steady eight hours, so the sound stays consistent through a full night’s sleep or a long work block — without short loops restarting.
What is black screen mode?
The streams use dark, near-black visuals. That keeps screens from lighting up a bedroom and saves battery on a phone or TV left playing overnight — they’re meant to be heard, not watched.
How do I listen?
Open any channel’s “Listen live” button and it plays on YouTube — on your phone, computer, or TV. You can subscribe on YouTube to catch each day’s session.
Is this a medical or sleep treatment?
No. Brown Noise Network is ambient background audio for general listening. It is not a medical device or treatment and makes no health claims. If you have a sleep, focus, or health concern, talk to a qualified professional.
What is “Brown Noise Uploader”?
It’s the private tool the operator uses to run these channels on YouTube. See the OAuth Information page for what it does and why it needs its YouTube permissions, and the Privacy Policy for data handling.
